We may skim the surface of life; like water bugs never going below the surface. Understanding is to “stand under”, to go below the surface. Life is lived only here-and-now. The candle burns at the wick – where wax touches air. The wax is the past, the air is the future. The flame is the living present – the meeting point of past and future – the flame of life.
It is through this life (my life, your life, their lives) that everything is known. This body is the temple of the soul. The relative and the absolute meet exactly in this life. Here-and-now is the eye of the paradox.
