Oil is expensive - it should be. We are running out of it. Time to retool. Seems like the market pricing mechanisms are more powerful toward reduction of oil use than any policy statement we can come up with.

ACT Young Conservatory musical - great show!

- Went to see the opening of the new ACT Young Conservatory musical last night, had a great time and loved the show!

The production is based on the music of Elton John, and ties the songs together by telling the story of Bennie and how she takes a break from show business to try to sort out her life — she moves to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to live with her aunt and go to the local high school. The characters are a mix of show business types, Bennie's aunt, and the high school kids she meets on her visit.

It is fast-paced, fun and funny, a high-energy ride with some touching moments. Craig Slaight wrote a very clever script to have the songs fit together with the story line. A great cast, great music and singing, and a first-rate production.

I do have to say that my daughter is in the cast, and so I might be biased It was very moving to see her on stage, she's fabulous.

UPDATE: Elton John's website has a link to the show, very nice!
